Nandina domestica ‘Blush Pink’ PBR, commonly known as Blush Pink™ Nandina or Heavenly Bamboo, is a compact, evergreen shrub celebrated for its vibrant, blush-colored new foliage and year-round interest. Despite its common name, it is not a true bamboo but belongs to the barberry family (Berberidaceae).

Compact colour and effortless garden performance

  • Growth Habit: Compact and bushy, typically reaching up to 60 cm (2 feet) in height.
  • Foliage: New leaves emerge blush pink in spring, deepening in color and becoming reddish-green during summer, then turning fiery red and orange in autumn and winter.
  • Flowers: Small, star-shaped white flowers in conical panicles during mid-summer.

Growing Conditions & Care

  • Light: Prefers part shade to shade.
  • Soil: Adaptable to various soil types, including free-draining loams and heavier clay soils with good drainage.
  • Watering: Drought and frost-tolerant once established. Water as required for 8-13 weeks until established.
  • Maintenance: Low-maintenance; requires little care due to being drought hardy. Mulching is always beneficial.

Ideal for low hedges, borders, feature plants in cottage gardens or courtyards, decorative containers, under-planting for trees, or mass-planting.
